I just got my Mazda 2 yesterday and im going for the corksport since its a full catback and eliminates the secondary cat.
Thats awesome, when are you going to install the aftermarket exhaust?

Looking forward to seeing this installed on your car. If you can, please post a video of how the Mazda 2 corksport exhaust sounds on your car.

How does corksport rank against brands like Tanabe, Flowmaster & Magnaflow?

Good Win Racing has 2 exhausts available for sale at this point. One is HKS, the other is Racing Beat.

Neither is full catback though probably because of emission reasons, but I personally don't have a problem with that.
HKS for the win!

I could care less if it's cat back or not although cat back is so much better. People who really want a full cat back system can get the area from the cat to HKS exhaust custom made. Unlike a lot of custom stuff for cars, luckily paying someone to make a custom exhaust system isn't that expensive.

i would prob buy both the corksport exhaust just for the 2nd cat delete since we only really y need one but... the hks is just an axle back or a full cat back?

Even if you had the HKS axle back with the 2 cats installed i don't think the exhaust note would even be to noticeable...

I bought the racing beat exhaust for my 2. Its an axle back and more then noticeable when you want it to be. But its also quite when you want it to be :) As with the new Mazda cars they are putting out, most of them have one piece exhausts from the cat back to where the muffler is installed. This means you have to cut the pipe behind the cat to install a "cat back" exhaust. I choose to go with axle back because on a brand new car cutting is not really something I want to do. Plus at 98hp output the extra 1-5 hp you might gain by replacing the mid section is pointless.

If you want to hear it when you push the pedal but not as much on highway get an axle back. If you want to hear it all the time go for cat back.

I highly recommend the racing beat axle back. Amazing sound and quality

Just put on the Racing Beat power pulse last week. This is my first axel back and is much louder than I expected. Though the sound is amazing and power gains, I think is significant for such a low powered car. I am a little nervous to get the CorkSport SRI due to the extra sound it would make. The style and power gains of the power pulse is awesome, but a little loud for my taste and considering selling it and maybe get the SRI with the stock muffler. I would think the SRI would get more power with less added sound.

im worried about sound but want the performance.

cops were i live are really up tight about people with loud exhaust systems (up to the cops discretion)

So getting a setup with great power, but low noise output is ideal for me!

some video's on this would be awesome!

You will need to upgrade your fuel pump if you get a downpipes and race pipe. Or you have any other issue related with your engine I suggest you to completely replace it either with a new engine or a used one. A few months back I faced a similar issue with my engine, so I replaced it and bought a used engine from http://www.hiperformer.com/used_engines/. Now my car runs very smoothly without any problem. I would suggest you to replace the engine itself.

If i may be a late commentator, the Mazda 2 sounds just fine when you cut the muffler off and run a straight 2" pipe out the back. I have been running this setup for months, and Honda owners can't believe how deep and burbly it is. You get a bit of tin can resonance at high RPMs, but for $50 it gives the 2 an unbeatable exhaust note.

This sounds like a GREAT idea. Any pictures or where or what parts you purchased? I love cheap and good ideas..

Make your own....

Some pics of the build....

Front box from Cybox... Thanx to Mark in there technical dept..... ???

Surprising how the pipe work ended up as it looked so simple laying it out on the floor & doing a few measurements under the car
would have been nice to have the front piece mandrel bent then put the box in...

Shaun.....
