Exhaust and Intake

I've had my M2 for 10 months now and I am looking to add an exhaust system and intake to the car. I have a few questions for people who may be a little more knowledgeable on the subject.

First, I would like a cat back exhaust and wanted to know some of the better, more reliable companies that provide this for the Mazda 2. I've done some research but have not come away with a whole lot of info.

I have heard good things about Cold Air Intake systems, and again want to know a reliable company to get this from. Also, I have read up some on something called a Short Ram Intake. I am not sure what this is, and if it is or is not comparable to a CAI.

Basically, I am looking for some help from people smarter than me on helping beef up my car a little bit :)

cat backs- HKS Hi-power, Racing beat. there are lots more expensive but those two are decent.

a short ram intake is generally used on FI cars as it limits the amount of intake tubing. FWIW, our cars are already sort of Cold air intakes as we have ducting, I am in the process of building a custom intake, header and cat back. I know it will be cheaper.
exhaust/intake

i personally have the racing beat axle back, it sounds great and super easy to install exhaust, its sounds great good deep tone, not tinny like the HKS style, im also running the Corksport short ram intake also sounds great, a little harder to install but woth it, those two installs gained me a little power and gas mileage.
I'm definitely looking for cat back, because I'm actually going to take a straight pipe and bypass the cats altogether. I have a mechanic friend and he said it would help the gas mileage and wouldn't hurt anything besides the environment some. Any idea of costs for a custom cat-back??

And do you notice a difference in sound with the short ram?? I know that is one of the things I enjoy about the cold air intake.

Thanks!
I have a m2 auto stock it is getting 26mpg. That sucks. However I ordered an Injen cold intake and I plan on putting on a cork sport exhaust including the high flow cat. Hopefully that will get me more power and mpg. Does anyone know if a tornado(a fan that goes in the cold air intake) helps much?
I just placed my order on the CorkSport system. I'll try and get a full review of the system up once I install it. Finding information like inside volume and such seems pretty difficult so far.
i have the 2009 neo m2 and i was wondering if performance parts would be year specific?
would a cat back that fits the 2012 fit the 2009?
i guess by building an intake and a fender by your self might be really a great and affordable deal for you as well as for your ride.
