im not one to hypermill any car but i needed to do so on a few occasions when i was running really low on gas and the closest gas station was pretty far. the mazda 2 already gets excellent gas mileage. but heres a few things i normally use when i need to hypermill.

turn off all unnecessary accessories on the car. for example a/c, radio, etc.... these add extra load on the battery which in turn adds more load to the engine as well causing it to consume more gas.

try to maintain a constant speed. believe it or not you are more likely to use less fuel driving at a constant speed of 100km/h on a long distance rather than fluctuating from 40-80km/h in traffic on the same distance.

accelerate and decelerate smoothly. doing so lessens the stress and load on your engine which in turn will use up less gas.

drive behind trucks, buses and suv's. basically anything huge. they help reduce wind resistance on your car the closer you drive behind them. however still maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.

hope all these tips help. above all make sure your car is well maintained so it will drive optimally.
