Mazda 2 EPA rating says to expect around 28 miles per gallon (MPG) in the city and 35 miles per gallon on highways. These are not solid numbers and have yet to be confirmed. This is where we come in to give our real life numbers and put the Mazda 2 to the test.

what is your MPG like? include manual/automatic transmission, city/highway, also your driving style.

The trip computer on my 2 says its average fuel economy is 7.8L per 100km. Which is roughly 30mpg. And that's 95% city driving. So i would say those numbers are pretty solid.

I have been paying close attention to gear selection in relation to the vehicle's speed, and how it affects the fuel consumption. 50km/h in third gear seems to yield the best economy, similar to fourth @60-70km/h (good for cruisin'). Quick takeoffs don't really affect mileage, and it's worth noting that the motor doesn't use any fuel while decelerating in gear.

My 2 has been getting about 33.4mpg according to the MFD, but im never fully believe those things. I filled up for the first time today (a shocking 6.62 gallons and $19.80, lol) so I will know my actual mileage beginning with the next fill-up.

not quite as good as my TDI was, but a heck of lot more fun to drive!
