im trying to figure out how come the mazda 2 has better city mileage than the fiesta but the highway mileage is worse. is it because of the gearing in the transmission?

Here's quick comparison some guy on youtube did with the 2011 Mazda 2 and 2011 Ford Fiesta. He didnt really recommend one over the other but he did make a few good points on whats good and lacking on both cars.

Not sure to be honest but probably just how the engine is tuned.
