Mazda says that it plans to build around 2,000 Mazda2s annually in Vietnam at a new joint-venture assembly plant that will supply only the modestly-growing market.
good to see Mazda is trying to save it's customers money by manufacturing the Mazda2 for Vietnam in Vietnam. This should help make the Mazda2 just that much more affordable for everyone.

The Japanese automaker will operate the plant with its local distributor, Vina Mazda, in Nui Thanh in Northern Vietnam. The Mazda2 is its first locally-built model the automaker will offer in Vietnam. Building vehicles locally helps Mazda trim transport costs and import duties.

“Mazda is commencing local assembly of the Mazda2 as the first step in an aggressive business strategy for Vietnam,” Mazda global marketing chief Yuji Nakamine said in a statement. “With a large proportion of its approximately 90 million people in their 30s or under, Vietnam is one of the most youthful and promising emerging markets.”

Mazda currently exports the Mazda2 from Japan to Vietnam. Its lineup in the market also includes the Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-9 and BT-50 pickup.

The Mazda2 should do well in Vietnam, I see the vehicle market in Vietnam calls for a lot of compact and sub compact vehicles, the Mazda2 fits this profile. Hopefully Vietnamese people will love the Mazda2 as much as we do!
