My girl has a new Mazda2. She loves the thing, my question is how much power do you expect to gain with some bolt-ons? She wants me to mod her car, I just want to know if its worth it. Its a fun little car, just kind of laggy.
Corksport has some simple bolt ons. Makes the most parts for the car as far as I know. Racing beat has a simple install axle back exhaust. I mean the parts are fairly cheap. As far as power gains, there ain't too many out. I would work on weight reduction like get lighter rims. I think it's worth it. For a small car, it handles really well. I personally have a mazdaspeed 3 and I just recently bought a 2. I was used to spirited driving and took turns pretty hard on the 2 accidentally. I was amazed by the way this little car can handle. Then the mod bug bit me.
Sadly, I haven't seen too many mods that actually amount to anything more than an increase in IHP (Imagined Horse Power). People put on "ram air kits," but without tuning your ECU, they really don't amount to much. You get just as much increase by switching to the green air filter they use in B-Spec racing, but you don't have to do any real mods. The next mod I wish to do on mine is a header-back exhaust and some new, fatter, sportier tires. Those seem like the most practical mods to me.
